Providing education, resources, advice and networking for Fire Trustees throughout Montana since 1989
About
The Montana Fire Trustees Association (MFTA) is the recognized source of administrative education for Rural Fire District and Fire Service Area Trustees.
MFTA provides the opportunity to form a statewide network of fellow trustees which provides improved information flow between trustees, expands and supports your leadership as trustees, and encourages collaboration, innovation and learning. Your membership provides access to valuable information that will help your organizations efficiency and effectiveness.
Our annual conference offers training and education on many important subjects including interpretation of laws governing Rural Fire Districts/Fire Service Areas; available funding sources; conduct of Board Meetings; responsibilities to employees (whether career or volunteer); and other subjects vital to the successful operation of Rural Fire Districts and Fire Service Areas. The annual conference provides a time for a relaxed interchange of ideas and networking between trustees.
The Montana State Legislature enacts all laws under which we are governed; the MFTA is a member of the Montana Fire Alliance ensuring Rural Fire Districts and Fire Service Areas have a voice and receive active consideration. Through our participation in the Montana Fire Alliance, we have a lobbyist monitoring potential legislation and working on our behalf. A bi-annual Legislative Meet & Greet Evening which gives members the opportunity to discuss fire service issues with their local legislators.
Our web site features resources and items of interest to the fire service, with links to web sites of other pertinent organizations, agencies and Rural Fire Districts/Fire Service Areas.
MFTA Board Members attend regional and county association meeting for firsthand response and input for the betterment of the association.
